ABSTRACT
This chapter is about failure. It’s an American value to prioritize the outcome as opposed to the process. Yet, the process is more valuable than the outcome. There is a paradox of failure, and that is one must fail in order to stop failing. So how can one understand that the multi-hyphenate experience requires failure? It’s an educational lesson, so it must begin with the academic environment. Once one embraces failure, it opens an artist up to swift decision-making and strong commitment. Failure also opens itself up to incredible creative decisions that become iconic and remembered. Failure also informs the path of an artist. The Career Connection is on Teaching & Coaching.
