ABSTRACT

The observation of the flurry of China’s ubiquitous diplomatic and investment activities has triggered the interest in writing this book. The introduction, therefore, looks at China’s activities and asks the question of the existence of a grand strategic pursuit. This perspective justifies the organization and articulation of chapters in which the author discusses the notion of grand strategy; identifies and articulates its elements, which are objectives, actors, time and space factors, operations, scale and scope, coordination, execution, political narrative, and teleology; and suggests the challenges and prospects of success, and its implications, in light of the structure of international relations.
