ABSTRACT

This concluding chapter articulates the findings and observations from this book at the macro (society level), meso (organisational level), and micro (everyday life) fields of analysis following the theory on secularisation by Karel Dobbelaere. It uncovers that Australia is going through a different de-secularisation process at each of these levels. While the macro level tends to be monocultural and mono-Christian, the micro is more diverse in terms of religion, spirituality, and culture. At the meso level, this chapter notices an influence from the macro level through the financing of faith-based organisations and religious schools, and from the micro level through non-Christian religions aiming to have representation for their communities. It argues that Australia is a post-secular society at the micro and meso levels, but that it has gone towards a post-post-secular phase at the macro level.
