ABSTRACT

Broadly, this chapter discusses disability theologies. Theology is a central aspect which allows the religions to reflect on scriptures and the subject of deities. This study uses disability theologies as resources to meet the needs of persons with disabilities. As such, in the context of this book, understanding existing disability theologies helps to interpret the African churches’ perspectives about disabilities. Theology relies heavily on context. Therefore, this chapter’s overarching preoccupation is that of questioning the extent to which disability theologies foster liberation praxis for persons with disabilities.
