ABSTRACT
This chapter invites a laser focus on the impact the readers have as parents. The key guiding questions in parenting are ‘evaluating our impact on our children’, making the adjustments, smelling the roses when successful, and understanding when and why impact may not be as the people intended. Indeed, there were almost no references to particular curriculum areas or to teachers who taught specific content to these respondents: The relationships, the expectations, and the passion were more critical than the particular curriculum. Different societies and cultures have very different notions of what it means to be a good person, what it means to raise children, and what it means to be successful. The differences in the experiences of parenting are enormous – in neighborhood, in country, across many countries, and generations. The boundaries between risk and safety and between yes and no are too often fuzzy and not strong demarcations.
