ABSTRACT

This chapter offers an overview of the pedagogical frameworks, instructional principles, and pedagogical approaches that inform HL education. These guidelines aim to offer a comprehensive model that allows for the implementation of an inclusive, individualized, and culturally and socially responsible learning environment to meet the specific needs of the HL student population. Recognizing that research on the effectiveness of specific instructional approaches and practices in the HL classroom is still in its infancy (Carreira, 2022), the chapter calls for HL program administrators and practitioners to work toward bridging the gaps between HL research and instructional practices in order to impart quality HL instruction.
