ABSTRACT

As I write this, in September 1990, many observers of the Eritrean situation are predicting that the next few months will bring the final victory for the Eritrean people. Between now and then political pressure will be brought to bear on the international community to recognize Eritrea and urge Mengistu to surrender. At the same time the besieged Ethiopian army in Asmara will become progressively more demoralized and the civilian population will be prepared for the inevitable battle if Mengistu does not surrender.
