ABSTRACT

I will now follow the path taken by this memory in my own case, until it crossed that of the anaesthesiologists, nurses and emergency doctors I interviewed on the front lines, reviving a feminine agency which drove me to become a psychoanalyst in the psychiatric hospital, although my studies had been in neither psychology nor psychiatry, but in classical literature and sociology. What’s more, I only became acquainted with Freud in the summer of 1968 when I read Introduction to Psychoanalysis, 1 and immediately started psychoanalysis. That’s when I got the idea of becoming an analyst in a public psychiatric hospital.
