ABSTRACT

This chapter explores digital learning spaces such as virtual worlds, and virtual and augmented reality. The use of virtual worlds has become increasingly popular and this chapters explains that whilst there are a wide range of pedagogical approaches to learning, and online learning, the literature on pedagogically driven immersive 3D training is more fragmented. The chapter begins by exploring the notion of space, since this has an impact on the diverse ways in which PBL is implemented in virtual worlds, simulations and augmented reality.
