ABSTRACT
Berryman graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1936 and looked to England as his oyster; not many months earlier he would have been amazed to find himself in such an illustrious position, but he could now take a just pride in his accomplishment. At Cambridge, he had to learn, he needed to build solidly on success before a larger world would echo his acclaim.
