ABSTRACT

Anyone who believes in indefinite growth in anything physical, on a physically finite planet, is either mad or an economist. The corona virus is a strong warning sign, which showed us the interdependency and vulnerability of our globally connected economies and societies. A problem of even greater urgency is the environmental crisis, notably the change in our global climate. The big global problems are also brought about by our linearly organized economic system, in which we extract, use and discard raw materials. Massive problems require massive solutions. Many governments, public bodies and people in trades and industries are starting to awaken to the urgency of it. Many of them we have had the privilege to meet personally on this journey, some of them have become valued friends, and we highly appreciate their work.
