ABSTRACT

This chapter puts emphasis on the major points and findings discussed in the book. It highlights the observed specific characteristics of Japanese soft power and public diplomacy. The chapter points out particular issues of Japan’s public diplomacy approach and the possible solutions and future prospects examined in the study. This includes the conduct of an integrated policy by the engaged cultural promotion actors through a Public-Private Partnership Platform, facilitated by the Japan Foundation. It also underlines the Japan Foundation’s role, advantages and factors, evidencing its high potential for becoming Japan’s central public diplomacy actor in Europe, as well as certain limitations that should be further addressed. The chapter indicates the importance of the suggested Public-Private Partnership Platform for the strengthening of Japan’s cultural presence in Europe. It also emphasizes the Platform’s significance for the organization and implementation of the proposed future projects in the missing or less explored areas of Japanese culture in France and Bulgaria, discovered through the author’s personal interviews.
