ABSTRACT

The book concludes with a chapter on real-world case studies and case briefs in EHR research. The case studies represent five scenarios adapted from the published literature and the case briefs represent eight scenarios adapted from planned projects surveyed from an EHR workshop. The details of each case have been altered to emphasize one or more challenges or limitations of EHR research. Each case includes corresponding discussion questions to reinforce the concepts covered throughout the text, including data, study design, analysis, bias and validity, inference, and dissemination. Sources for additional case studies are also included.
