ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book provides a theoretical introduction to the author's future publications on healthcare, especially the relationships between interventionism and market processes and their impact on access to medical services. It deals with the theoretical aspects of market and interventionist solutions in the area of health systems, which aims to create appropriate arguments for the former. The book shows the superiority of market solutions must also refer to the most frequently raised market failures: asymmetric information, the possibility of providing public goods, and the issue of monopolies. It presents theoretical aspects of interventionism and its impact on the processes forming the market health system. The book also presents the principles of operation of the public system. As a result, they will be easier to compare with the market system.
