ABSTRACT
Building community in a classroom helps students connect and understand the purpose of collaboration. Pitch Day brings a sense of community into the classroom and helps everyone realize the importance of collaboration. Pitching is also explained as an experience that can take place on Flipgrid so that it doesn’t all have to happen synchronously in one day. Collaboration is such an important skill and is very different than group work. Group work is one-sided and completed by the student(s) who the group feels is most competent to earn the best grade. Collaboration gives students an opportunity to really share and come together for a common purpose. Pitching a project will look different for different students. True collaboration has to be learned, practiced, and encouraged. There are several tools that students can use to prepare their pitch to share with the class.
