ABSTRACT

Students have been studying online for over 20 years. Yet, it is only in recent years that online studying has become highly popular. Indeed, after the Coronavirus pandemic forced students to study from home, online studying really took off as an everyday activity. In this chapter, you will discover the advantages and disadvantages of online study. Being an online student gives you flexibility and control over your studies in several ways. However, it also comes with several downsides, including lowered motivation, reduced effectiveness because of the technology and the potential for an overwhelming amount of communication and distraction. This chapter puts those disadvantages into perspective and shows how to avoid some of the problems associated with online study.
