ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on web-based video which is a central component of online learning. However, it can often be experimental, and students will face a wide variety of quality. This chapter shows that student will also be making videos or attending online video conference calls during their studies, so they may also be experimenting and trying new things with video. Online video is used for several parts of distance learnings studies. Students will watch recorded lectures, participate in online tutorials and seminars, watch live online lectures, and record their own video presentations used in assessments. To get the most out of online video, this chapter discusses the need for the best webcam and microphone set up that can be afforded. Students need to consider the lighting of their room, the background, and their own appearance on camera. This chapter shows that students will also need to follow the online video etiquette and rules of behaviour published by their university.
