ABSTRACT

This concluding chapter comprises five sections. Section 5.1 summarises the key findings from the preceding chapters to explain how the findings answer each of the sub-questions and thereby addressing the overarching one. The scholarly contributions to the existing literature are then discussed in Section 5.2. This is followed by a discussion of important policy implications, with a particular focus on the development planning aspects in the context of sustainable structural transformation, informed by an illustrative way of alternative structural transformation strategies with the use of a simple mathematical simulation. My research project inevitably has a number of limitations, and these are identified in Section 5.4, along with suggestions for further research. Finally, this chapter ends with concluding remarks by stressing that an inclusive and sustainable structural transformation agenda of the Global South would require tackling the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development in an integrated way.
