ABSTRACT

Companies more often started evaluating their employees in the corporate world, including those in managerial and leadership positions. It’s a result of changing companies’ policy-oriented on employees’ well-being. The pressure is put on creating a friendly environment for workers to improve their job satisfaction and effectiveness. There are various methods of evaluation used in the corporate world, some of which are self-evaluation and other-evaluation. To present the scope of the research, author used a literature review of the existing study on the subject of narcissistic leaders in the organization. For that matter, the author did an overview of 350 articles on the chosen topic from 1914 to 2019, corresponding with three research questions. The first research question concerned the various techniques used to evaluate narcissistic leaders. The goal was to show that such a leader’s perception depended on the methods of leader assessment. The second question investigated the impact that the various forms of narcissistic leader evaluation had on how the leaders were perceived (whether positively or negatively). Finally, based on already existing data, the researcher tested the influence that the narcissistic leader had on their subordinates and the outcome of this influence. The research has shown that the perception of a narcissistic leader correlates with how the leader is assessed in such an organization. The correlation indicates that when leaders perform the self-report, they demonstrate that they have a positive opinion of themselves; however, when subordinates perform the evaluation, leaders’ perception is negative.
