ABSTRACT

Jesus Christ is the central and dominant person of the Bible, and it is a name with which children are familiar from a very early age. The pupils’ responses can be divided into two types, those who see no moral imperfection in Christ and those who do. Concepts of Christ as Saviour involve the question of what he came to save men from and this in turn involves the problem of evil. The story of the temptation of Jesus involves concepts of evil, as personalised in the allegory of the devil. The composite picture is not too clear when all the items discussed in the chapter are put together in terms of various ages. The characteristics of Infant children and early Juniors is one of great confusion due to God and Jesus being interchangeable terms. It is apparent that the miraculous acts of Christ, both the healing and the nature miracles, attract a great deal of attention during late childhood.
