ABSTRACT

The relationship is highly significant and probably indicates positive attitudes and an interest in home towards the church and matters involving the church. The picture is used as a device to secure rapport and to elicit concepts rather than attitudes, that is intellectual patterns of thought about the church. In the picture of people entering a church, the pupils naturally assume that two adults are the child's parents and so this provided an opportunity for seeing what insight the pupils revealed into the motives of adults attending church. Brighter and older children provide replies which might seem somewhat depressing to the sensitive teacher. From towards the end of the tenth year onwards most pupils achieve keener insights and higher concepts in that attention is focused upon becoming better person, morally and spiritually. The Infant and young Junior child have a lesser enjoyment of the church than older children; the six year old especially, probably due to inexperience and other factors.
