ABSTRACT

This chapter explores Yao Lu's and Javier's experiences in Chinese restaurants, and the emergence of traumatic memories within a sensory context similar to Yao Lu's early childhood. Hope and Loneliness (a.k.a Soledad) are discussed as Yao Lu's life companions. Yao Lu's tendency to run to abusing individuals becomes more clear. Javier goes to look for her and finds her in a shanty. Theories of masochism, self-regulation, intersubjectivity, projective identification, and mentalization are included. Enactments are part of the work. Change is near.
