ABSTRACT
As Yao Lu's attachment-related difficulties surface in her relating to her child as mother, she enters into crisis and risky behaviors spike. Prostitution becomes a self-destructive defense. Javier's work with Yao Lu transitions to the hospital setting, and the adolescent psychiatry unit. Masochistic dynamics are clarified for the reader with a strong emphasis on theory.
