ABSTRACT
Yao Lu's self-destructive behavior and prostitution are described, as well as her conflicted feelings. Javier struggles to manage intense affective experiences, while fostering Yao Lu's emotional growth. The theory of dissociation, enactments, self-regulation, and systems theory are threaded into the text.
