ABSTRACT
Public infrastructure remains problematic worldwide and in need of upgrades. This chapter will update the impacts of disasters on infrastructure and how infrastructure failures can cause disasters. Issues of equity will be explained such as experienced within the educational infrastructure during the COVID-19 pandemic, ongoing challenges with public transportation deserts, and the problems of inaccessible infrastructure. Restoring and sustaining infrastructure using gray, green, and blue infrastructure solutions will be discussed. Common strategies to restore infrastructure after a disaster and mitigate future impacts will conclude the chapter.
