ABSTRACT
This chapter is one of the most essential chapters, as it addresses the integral role that stakeholders can take to reduce school violence. School counselors are advocates, leaders, and change agents who work intentionally to support the academic, career, and personal/social success of all students. It is imperative for school counselors to be proactive rather than reactive, collaborate with stakeholders to identify students who may be struggling, as well as to provide students with resources and referrals necessary to provide assistance. It is also strongly encouraged that school counselors have a crisis plan in place and review components of the crisis plan with critical stakeholders at the beginning of the school year so that everyone is cognizant of protocols to follow if violence occurs.
