ABSTRACT

In order for manufacturing knowledge (MK) to be a resource that will allow a management board to achieve a competitive advantage, it is necessary to use methods and techniques that will enable the acquisition of this knowledge. It is particularly difficult to build appropriate mechanisms supporting the extraction of knowledge from experts and specialists (tacit knowledge), yet collecting requirements and defining customer needs is one of the most important stages in designing the process of MKM. This chapter defines MK sources and the methods of acquiring tacit and explicit knowledge. Which of the I4.0 technologies support the acquisition of knowledge in a given business process in manufacturing will be the subject of further exploration.
