ABSTRACT

Strategies are the blueprint, the map of implementing the strategy. Strategy should always be the big picture with a longer-term focus. Tactics, however, are the means of operational delivery – dealing with what is in front of you now. This chapter presents the most efficient and effective strategies and tactics that the author has acquired over the years, including the ‘Silent Man,’ the Third Person, the ‘Specialist Team Approach,’ the Water Strategy, ‘I don’t speak your language,’ credibility through external validation and ‘The Tangential Paradox.’ These are interspersed with ‘Silver Bullets’ of negotiation strategy.
