ABSTRACT

Continuing the developer stage, this chapter explains the audio editing and script-writing process. Editing can be simply defined as changing something by either adding or removing parts of it. It's about getting rid of the audio you don't want, adding audio that you need, and then arranging it all to meet your production goals. Working with a DAW (digital audio workstation) is considered, and preparing your audio content to be incorporated into a finished script. An overview of script formatting is provided, along with analysis of the ethical and legal considerations of editing. There are three R.E.A.L. exercises that focus on the advanced developer stage of audio production. This chapter starts and ends with personal case studies of one Finnish educator who helped create the first radio station of its kind in his country, armed only with sheer determination, and an innovative audio artist and professor who creates innovative and powerful sound art to change lives and challenge perspectives.
