ABSTRACT
The concluding essay reflects on new directions in Keen’s work, specifically on ancient characters and distant readers; on the possibility of stirring young readers to feel Einfühlung for the planet by teaching climate fiction; and on the complicated set of meanings that the term “empathy” evokes, when used by scholars in the field. It wraps up with a new and updates set of hypotheses about narrative empathy.
