ABSTRACT
This chapter elaborates the sketch assessment in Chapter 2 depicting the economics of healthcare in Ghana under the Fourth Republic, exemplified by the NHIS, as suboptimal. Healthcare in Ghana is inadequately funded and highly dependent on external funding. To move healthcare reforms in the country beyond the NHIS into the direction of health as human right, that we propose in this book, Ghanaian leaders must put more money into the program.
