ABSTRACT

Time can be viewed in increments such as spectrums, seasons or windows. Regardless of the view, time is a scarce resource that all leaders must use wisely. This chapter details four organizational levels of time spectrum that must be considered when studying time. Waste is one of the most common sources of organizational inefficiency overlooked by enterprise leaders. Thinking back to Lean Green Belt training, there are eight wastes to be considered. Waste is essentially anything a customer is not willing to pay for. In order for leaders to master the art of time management and leverage it for ultimate success, they must view time through three lenses. The first lens relates to what the leader can control. The second lens relates to those priorities that the leader or team can influence. The third lens refers to those priorities that are only a concern. Another very effective tool for leaders to leverage in time management is a risk prioritizer.
