ABSTRACT

Disruption can be defined as, ‘a break or interruption in the normal course or continuation of some activity, process, and so on.’ It is important for organizational leaders to consider several aspects of disruption. One, there are a couple of types of disruption. These include internal and external. Disruption geographical reach can span from local to international depending upon the issue. This chapter focuses on a case study where a large service organization assessed the impacts of an international disruptor. A large service industry conducted an after-action review of the impact of COVID 19 on its talent. There were two areas of focus: meetings and remote work. For the meeting's focus, the team selected a large meeting area that represented approximately 50% of the organization's meeting spaces annually. Once the team realized significant benefits from the disruption. They developed a risk assessment tool for this disruptor.
