ABSTRACT
Across all three regions, integrating mechanisms have significant influence on the implementation of low-carbon development patterns. Surprisingly, approval mechanisms are not the most significant integrating mechanism for implementing spatial policies. Alignment mechanisms executed by the local level seem to have a much stronger influence. The chapter introduces the concept of integrating mechanisms and creates a typology of integrating mechanisms supported with examples from the three regions.
