ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses PRC’s partnership diplomacy with Algeria as an instrument for realizing its new Silk Road grand strategy in the Maghreb. The main argument is that Beijing’s BRI grand strategy and the comprehensive strategic partnership (CSP) framework with Algeria has a key role in fulfilling the Chinese Dream and cementing the CPC leadership. There is a direct connection between PRC’s emerging comprehensive strategic partnership with Algeria and the new Silk Road grand strategy. Therefore, the key to understanding China’s upgraded involvement in Algeria must be in the context of the BRI framework. The new Silk Road grand strategy is an essential guide for PRC-Algeria’s comprehensive strategic partnership. This CSP includes six primary objectives: Policy coordination, energy cooperation, enhancement of trade, facilities connectivity, military ties, and people-to-people bond.
