ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses PRC’s partnership diplomacy with Morocco as an instrument realizing its new Silk Road grand strategy in the Maghreb. The main argument is that Beijing’s BRI grand strategy and the strategic partnership (SP) framework with the Kingdom have a key role in fulfilling the Chinese Dream and cementing the CPC leadership. There is a direct connection between PRC’s emerging strategic partnership with Morocco and the new Silk Road grand strategy. Therefore, the key to understanding China’s upgraded involvement in the Kingdom must be in the context of the BRI framework. The new Silk Road grand strategy is an essential guide for China-Morocco’s strategic partnership. This SP includes six primary objectives: Policy coordination, facilities connectivity, enhancement of trade, energy cooperation, financial integration, and people-to-people bonds.
