ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the aspects behind the PRC-Tunisia relationship as an instrument for realizing its new Silk Road grand strategy. It examines the synergies between the BRI grand strategy and Tunisia’s economy and geographically strategic location. The main argument is that Beijing’s new Silk Road grand strategy and the relationship with Tunisia have a key role in fulfilling the Chinese Dream and cementing the CPC leadership. Therefore, the key to understanding China’s involvement in Tunisia must be in the context of the BRI framework. PRC-Tunisia’s relationship reflects the key BRI grand strategy to promote connectivity and economic development in five priority areas: Policy coordination, facilities connectivity, enhancement of trade, energy cooperation, and people-to-people bond.
