ABSTRACT

This part of the book summarises the outcomes of the research, presents its limitations and introduces implications for further research. Empirical research proved that the smart approach supports the sustainability, competitiveness and resilience of destinations. Smart destination governance is therefore seen as the key factor for the success of mature tourism destinations that have the resources and time to focus on technology and design principles. The identified limitations of the presented research lie in the analysis of the situation in one country; therefore, the analysis of the situation in more destinations and countries using quantitative and qualitative methods is welcome. It concludes that the results of the research are valuable not only for academic scholars, but also for practitioners in tourism destinations.
