ABSTRACT

This introduction presents the scope, context, and significance of the research conducted throughout the book, which aims to answer the questions: What is the connection between the International Criminal Court and the responsibility to protect, and what impact does it have on international law? In so doing, the introduction outlines the purpose and methodology of exploring their interaction, parallel development, and consequences on the evolution of international law. Finally, it introduces the overall picture emerging from the research, claiming that the evident matters of implementation and double standards should not eclipse the long-term impact that the Court and the doctrine can make to the progress of international law.
