ABSTRACT
This introductory chapter will highlight the theoretical underpinnings of reflective thought. The purpose is to help both students and practitioners within public service professions to explore the historical perspectives that evolved into our modern-day public sector, gain an understanding of theories regarding experiential education and other models of learning techniques, recognize reflective practice as a learning tool, and begin spotting opportunities to engage in reflective thought.
