ABSTRACT
This is a brief conclusion to the volume Writers at War. It emphasises the ironical treatment of art that underlies the war writings examined in the book. This irony, however, points to the authors’ tentative quest for the persistence of human art. In human creation lies the resilience of humanity in the most extreme situations.
