ABSTRACT

This chapter indicates ‘deconstruction’ and ‘decolonial theory’ as important layers of Kimmerle’s thinking. Therefore, it explores how Kimmerle addressed the marginalization of Africa in philosophy, particularly in the work of Hegel. By means of the work of Ramose, Sartre, Derrida, Fanon, Césaire and Mignolo, it addresses the dark side of Western history. Furthermore, it highlights voices of female philosophers that are not (yet) acknowledged for their contribution to intercultural philosophy: de Staël and Beauvoir. They help to offer supplementary hypothesis concerning Hegel’s master-slave theory. These could enhance epistemic justice as it helps to address the analogy between different systems of oppression and the intersection between different marginalized groups.
