ABSTRACT

In this chapter, body neutrality is described as an ongoing practice that extends through the lifespan. This allows readers to feel more content in the present rather than pressuring themselves to “accomplish” body neutrality. The chapter explores how practicing self-compassion leads to acceptance and contentment in the present. The activity in this chapter is a self-compassion activity titled “I accept myself right now.” This is a writing exercise in which readers authentically document the details of their current relationship with their bodies from a posture of acceptance.
