ABSTRACT
This chapter offers an account of Nepal’s attempts to embrace and institutionalise democracy and Professor Subedi’s contribution to this process. It chronicles the tumultuous political events in Nepal, including the Maoist insurgency that also affected him personally. It recounts Professor Subedi’s assistance in bringing the key political actors together to conclude a comprehensive peace agreement, to manage the UN mission in Nepal, and to write a democratic constitution for the country.
