ABSTRACT
This chapter recalls Professor Subedi’s experience of the appointment process for the position of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, from his nomination for the position by Nepal’s Prime Minister, to the manner in which he campaigned in Kathmandu, London, and New York for this position. It provides insight into the workings of the UN system of appointment to such positions and offers suggestions for its reform.
