ABSTRACT
This chapter looks into the idea of what it means to be a creative 2-year-old and how practitioners can support children as they reach another important transition in their early years. For toddlers, it can be argued that everything they do has a creative undertone. The chapter considers toddlers as those between 2 and 3 years of age. As children develop their sense of autonomy, practitioners need to ensure they are still present so that the connections in the brain can continue to grow. From around the age of 20 months, children begin the transition into the toddler room, but practitioners also have scope to keep children beyond 2 in their baby room provision if moving rooms would cause distress or prove a challenge for them. Toddlers love helping; they are at an age where their independence is growing rapidly, and they want to be involved.
