Introduction

This chapter first provides a brief introduction to Liang Shiqiu as a translator, including his life experiences and achievements in the fields of literature and translation. Then it introduces “Translator Studies” as an “emerging subfield” of Translation Studies. After a review of the studies on translators in the past, the development of Translator Studies, and methods used for Translator Studies, this chapter further elaborates the issues to be dealt with in this book and the research methodology used for this research. The last part of the chapter is a summary of the chapters in this book.
