ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a summary of the book's findings while outlining the basic tenets of the conceptualization of competing identity management. Micro level differences in identity management strategies used by legal professionals in Operation Streamline are based on their racial/ethnic social identity—as well as differences within this group based on citizenship/generational status and gender. These micro level differences reveal the macro level, structural problems in current immigration and criminal justice systems. Limitations of the book are discussed, as well as broader contributions, from micro level identity management practices to macro level policy implications.
