ABSTRACT

Tourette's syndrome is a neurological disorder characterised by motor and vocal tics that wax and wane (change, increase, become less). Tourette's syndrome is named after Gilles de la Tourette, a French doctor who noticed similarities between patients. Tourette's is noted to have a premonitory urge, that is, the feeling that a tic is about to occur before it does. Children may find it difficult to recognise that feeling before it happens. They may also find it uncomfortable, even painful to stop a tic before it happens. Motor tics can include but are not limited to:
