ABSTRACT
The misrecognition-based politics have resulted in a new form of identity-based political violence replacing earlier party-based political violence. I have discussed this changing nature of Bengal violence over the years. Using ethnographic reflections on the recent riots, analysing the changing political spectrum of the state and studying the post-truth moment proliferated by IT cell propaganda machinery, this chapter shows how communal violence is replacing partisan violence and why it has a lasting impact on the social fabric of the state.
